This morning didn’t start so well. A failed apt upgrade lead to about 15 minutes of kernel (and human) panic. While the issue was resovled via a frantic search with another device, after the recovery I was left with the Ubuntu Livepatch GUI in an error state.

So how to clear a Livepatch error state when you know that all has been resolved?

$ sudo canonical-livepatch refresh

That cleared it up for me.

  • Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
  • Cinnamon.
